Actions
Every action is gold and every action is a tracked uppercase label. Buttons are square blocks 48px tall; the link variant is the same label with a rule beneath it. There is no second action colour, because the reds are all grounds.

48 and 40px. Buttons only — tags and breadcrumbs sit below this.

Small
Small is desktop chrome only. The 2px tracking makes even a short label wide, so buttons are never crowded.

The gold block keeps its fill on every ground — that constancy is what makes it read as the action rather than as part of the band. Its label is always maroon, never white: white on gold is 3.01:1 and fails at 13px. The outline variant switches from gold to white, because a gold outline on maroon is nearly invisible.
Focus

A 3px maroon ring offset by 3px. Maroon rather than gold, because the button is already gold; and on a maroon band the ring flips to white for the same reason.
Rules
- The gold block is the only button fill. Navigation and footer links are plain white on their band; a ruled link is wine on a light ground and gold on a dark one.
- One gold block per band, repeated down a long page. The outline and the ruled link may appear beside it.
- Labels are Title Case in the source and uppercased in CSS, so a screen reader reads words rather than letters. (These artboards draw buttons as plain blocks; in code they are real buttons and links.)
- Never put a gold outline button on a maroon or wine band — use the white outline there. And never set gold type on white or gainsboro: 3.01:1 and 2.40:1 respectively. Wine is the light-ground link colour.
